One Weekend (and four seasons) in Dorset

Only in England will you experience such changeable weather over a short space of time.  On the plus side, it makes for some interesting shots of the sky.

Capital Ring - Highgate to Stoke Newington

Good weather for a 5 mile walk from Highgate to Stoke Newington along part of the Capital Ring route. This walk is well-worth doing as it includes some of north London's interesting and eclectic areas, such as:

- Parkland Walk (along a disused railway track)
- Finsbury Park
- Stoke Newington reservoirs
- Clissold Park
- Abney Park cemetery

Another rainy summer's day

It has certainly been a miserably wet start to Summer 2016.  Still it makes for some pleasant photos of raindrops on leaves and flowers.

Wings and ...........

"Those magnificent men (with) their flying machines".  Great day out at the Wings and Wheels show at North Weald Airfield.   Superb aeronautics and fabulous models on show.

Summer at last (albeit between the heavy downpours)

The wild flowers are thriving in the hot sun and heavy downpours.  Is all this rain a consequence of global warming?  I can't remember such regular downpours in my younger days.

Horse Guards Parade on a beautiful spring day.

Changing of the Guards with all its pomp and circumstance.

Millennium Bridge - Poetry in Motion

The Millennium Bridge never fails to impress me. These shots were taken from the Embankment on the north side of the Thames.  I spotted the wording on the Tate Modern building and thought it was very apt for this photo.

Wren's masterpiece

St Paul's Cathedral has been photographed so much that it is difficult to get a new 'angle' on this much-loved London landmark.  Here are a couple of my attempts at something 'new'  from my visit yesterday.

Old Ford - Graffiti

On a walk from Old Ford to Victoria Park we noticed a spate of graffiti.  This could be in advance of the massive development going on in the area which will probably totally change the environment from shabby warehouses to glossy and boring blocks of flats.

I tried to get some different shots of this much-photographed, iconic London bridge.  It is a superb example of great design with shapes and angles that catch the eye.  However, the grey sky proved  a difficult and uninspiring background.
